When a child is facing a medical challenge, parents should be focused on their child's health and healing—not worrying about how they will pay the medical bills.
That's why Liberty HealthShare is proud to work alongside Akron Children's through a $200,000 Sharing Hearts Fund gift that will provide financial assistance to families in Stark and Summit counties who are struggling with pediatric medical expenses.
For Liberty HealthShare, this gift reflects a commitment that extends beyond healthcare sharing. It represents our desire to be a force for good in the communities we serve and to come alongside families during some of life's most difficult moments.
“Supporting families during difficult times is at the heart of the Sharing Hearts Fund mission, ” said Dorsey Morrow, chief executive officer of Liberty HealthShare. “We are honored to partner with Akron Children's, an organization that has earned the trust and admiration of families across Northeast Ohio through its unwavering commitment to exceptional pediatric care. This partnership reflects Liberty HealthShare's desire to be a force for good in our community. Through our Sharing Hearts Fund, we are grateful for the opportunity to help ease the burden facing families whose children need medical care.”
Akron Children's has been serving children and families for more than a century and is widely recognized as one of the nation's leading pediatric healthcare systems. Every day, its physicians, nurses and caregivers provide compassionate care to children across Northeast Ohio.
This initiative is rooted in a shared belief that children deserve access to quality healthcare regardless of a family's financial circumstances. Through this initiative, funds will be administered by Akron Children's to assist eligible families from Stark and Summit counties with medical expenses related to their children's care.
For Christopher Gessner, president and chief executive officer of Akron Children's, the gift represents more than financial assistance. It is an investment in the health and well-being of local children and families.
"This investment will help remove financial barriers that can stand in the way of a child's care and provide meaningful relief to families when they need it most," Gessner said. "Together, we have an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families across Stark and Summit counties."
The gift also reflects the purpose of the Sharing Hearts Fund, which exists to support individuals and families facing healthcare-related challenges. Every dollar awarded through the fund comes from donations and grants that are separate and distinct from the operational funding of the Liberty HealthShare ministry.
At Liberty HealthShare, we believe that caring for one another is more than a principle—it's a responsibility. Whether through healthcare sharing among members or through community initiatives like this one, we remain committed to helping people carry life's burdens and ensuring that families receive support when they need it most.
We are grateful for the opportunity to support Akron Children's and the families it serves, and we look forward to seeing the impact this gift will have on children and families throughout Stark and Summit counties. Through the Sharing Hearts Fund, Liberty HealthShare remains committed to helping carry one another's burdens and supporting communities when they need it most.
All dollars awarded by the Sharing Hearts Fund are generated through donations and grants that are separate and distinct from the operational funding of the Liberty HealthShare ministry.
