Loyalty and Kindness

Loyalty and Kindness

If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

Proverbs 3:2-4 (NLT)

What a great blessing it is to read these words. The writer gives us the secret to making our lives better in every context. These words are good for marriages, work, friendships, and any other situation that involves other people.

Be loyal.

Be kind.

That’s it!

We are told to “tie them around your neck as a reminder.” In other words, don’t just read these words and walk away. Take them to heart. In fact, we are also told to “write them deep within your heart.

There really are no substitutes for loyalty and kindness. Think about it. Pick whatever context you want to apply these words to and start practicing loyalty and kindness. Maybe start today at work. Watch what you say. Be positive instead of negative. Even when things look bleak or discouraging find something good to say and be loyal.

Kindness is a no brainer. We all like people that are kind. Don’t be grumpy, negative, or fault-finding. Be kind! Try it. Look around you today at work and practice kindness. Try it on somebody you may not even know, or someone you have looked down on in the past.

The writer of this proverb says if you do these things, you will “find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.” Sounds good to me. Who will join me in this challenge to be loyal and kind today?
