Meeting your Annual Unshared Amount (AUA) is the point at which the opportunity for community sharing begins but your sharing program may also include a Co-Share option. Understanding these amounts before you enroll is important.
What is a Co-Share?
Some Liberty HealthShare programs include a Co-Share: the portion of eligible medical bills a sharing member with a Co-Share option must pay after his or her AUA has been met.
Liberty HealthShare offers programs with different Co-Share percentages, including options with no Co-Share at all.
Are eligible medical expenses subject to sharing limits?
Liberty HealthShare provides a defined sharing structure: your AUA, your Co-Share percentage on eligible expenses after your AUA has been met, and per-visit, per-incident or per membership year sharing limits that vary by program. For more information, please review our Sharing Guidelines.
What types of expenses are typically not eligible for sharing?
Not all medical expenses are eligible for sharing. Examples include expenses associated with unhealthy choices, voluntary or cosmetic procedures (with limited exceptions), and expenses under $200 generally are not eligible for sharing. See the Sharing Guidelines for a complete list of expenses ineligible for sharing.
Because sharing is voluntary and governed by Liberty HealthShare's Sharing Guidelines, reviewing the Sharing Guidelines document for your specific program before enrolling is required. As CEO Dorsey Morrow puts it: "With healthcare sharing, you have to be more proactive."
