Sharing Hearts – A Force for Good

Sharing Hearts – A Force for Good

Dorsey Morrow, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty HealthShare, has been adamant about achieving a goal which sits at the heart of the ministry.

“We want to be a force for good in our region. Finding a way to serve by supporting the less fortunate in our hometown has been something we’ve been looking at for some time,” said Morrow.

The ministry has long had a robust presence through its Ministry, Community Relations, and Events division. Donations to food banks, participation in Operation Christmas Child, and days of service with employees working in the local community have all been successful and fulfilling for both the ministry and recipients. But Morrow’s wishes for a financial initiative to assist families in need was never quite realized.

family doctor Liberty HealthShareThe Sharing Hearts Fund for Pediatric Wellness has made this goal a reality. The first round of the chartable initiative’s funding has now closed, and financial award decisions have been made – meaning that numerous Stark County, Ohio families have received funds for their children’s pressing health needs.

"We want to be a force for good in our region."

Launched in Spring 2025, the Sharing Hearts Fund was introduced with the goal of providing financial support for Stark County families in need who wish to provide their children with important wellness procedures but have had to forego those procedures due to cost.

Now close to $25,000 has been awarded to several families, helping to share the costs of things like physical wellness exams, dental cleanings, vision exams and eyeglasses, and hearing tests.

And the Sharing Hearts Fund isn’t done.

Disbursements for these financial needs are currently planned to be given twice a year, and the second round of funding is planned for Fall 2025.

“We encourage an attitude of being better every day,” said Morrow. “We look forward to the next round of funding for the Sharing Hearts fun to be even better than the first.”

Community partners have been invaluable to this process, and will continue to be, as the initiative evolves and helps more families. Non-profits, community faith leaders, and dedicated medical professionals have all come together to embody an extension of Liberty HealthShare’s mission to share one another’s burdens.

Jenn Warner, Executive Director of Legacy Project of Stark County, Scott Schnyders, Chief Executive Officer of Refuge of Hope, Amanda Anschutz, President of Compassion Delivered, and Walter Moss, pastor and community leader, all provided their expertise, passion, and heart for the Stark County community as members of the application review committee, along with Liberty HealthShare’s Vice President of Medical Services Amy Hagen and Chief Executive Officer Dorsey Morrow.
