If you meet or will soon meet the requirements for Medicare, you might be curious as to how Medicare enrollment will impact your membership with Liberty HealthShare. Since Liberty HealthShare is not insurance, you might wonder how, or even if, we share medical costs with members who are also enrolled in Medicare.
The short answer is yes, we gladly work with members enrolled in Medicare. In fact, the process is quite straightforward.
For starters, members should submit their medical expenses to Medicare as they ordinarily would. Once a particular bill has been sent to and processed by Medicare, if there is a remaining balance, the member can then submit the bill to Liberty along with a copy of Medicare's explanation form. We will then process any eligible remaining cost according to our Sharing Guidelines and subject to the member's Annual Unshared Amount (AUA). It's that simple.
We always recommend members familiarize themselves with our Sharing Guidelines document, which contains point-by-point, specific answers concerning membership. To learn more about this topic in particular, reference section IV. C. 12. on Page 14 of the Sharing Guidelines. Keep in mind that this document does change from time to time, so you should always reference the version on our website rather than any downloaded or printed version.
Liberty HealthShare exists to facilitate the sharing of eligible medical costs among our like-minded members. Enrollment in Medicare is not an impediment to membership in this community. We are happy to work with members throughout the various seasons of life. If you have any questions about this or any other aspect of membership, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Member Services department at 855-585-4237.
